The ancient town of Hoi An lies on the Thu Bon River, 30 km south of Da Nang. It was formerly a major trading center in Southeast Asia between the 16th and 17th centuries. Hoi An is famous for its old temples, pagodas, small tile-roofed houses and narrow streets. All the houses were made of wood and their pillars were carved with ornamental design. All visitors to Hoi An are commended a visit to the Assembly Hall of Cantonese Chinese Congregation. This house was built in 1855 and still keeps many precious objects that belonged to the Chinese community of Hoi An. Another attractive address to tourists is Tan Ky House, which was conducted nearly two centuries ago as house of a Vietnamese merchant. The house now looks almost exactly as it did in the early 19th century. In recent years, Hoi An has become a popular tourist destination in Viet Nam. In 1999, it was certified by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site.

Traveling in a sea plane and watching the beautiful islands from the window is the most wonderful experience you could ever have. Islands are formed in way that makes a round which is called as an atoll. When you see them from sea plane view, it will look like a chain of pearls.

Mexico City: a megacity

Mexico City is the capital of Mexico. It’s an exciting, noisy and busy place to live, but it’s also vulnerable to natural disasters. It sits on an ancient lake surrounded by mountains and volcanoes and is in constant danger of earthquakes and flooding.

With a population of more than 18 million, overcrowding is a major issue in Mexico City and the housing supply is inadequate. As a result, shanty towns, called barrios, have appeared. People who are desperate for somewhere to live in the city put up these shanty houses in any spare corner of land. The houses ought to have proper foundations, but they have been built quickly on top of the land and when the floods come, water sweeps the houses away. Disease spreads quickly in megacities like Mexico City – overcrowding could be a reason for this. Sometimes, as many as ten people live in one room, sharing toilets, water and cooking facilities. In the 21^st century, we should have the technology to provide toilets and clean drinking water for everyone, but this isn’t the case in shanty towns.

Pollution is another health hazard. Smog covers the city from November to May and tens of thousands of people die from health issues relating to it. A programme called Hoy No Circula has been introduced and cars must stay off the road for one day a week. The government is also trying to encourage commuters to find a different way to travel to work: there is a new bicycle sharing service called Ecobici and a Metrobus system.

Despite its problems, Mexico City is vibrant and lively with a rich cultural life, fantastic shopping, amazing restaurants and plenty for its citizens and visitors to do. There are more than two hundred museums and galleries and there is a wonderful zoo. Architecturally, it is very interesting with a wonderful checkerboard layout and splendid architecture, which dates from the 16^th century.

Ô nhiễm là một mối nguy hiểm sức khỏe khác. Sương mù bao phủ thành phố từ tháng 11 đến tháng 5 và hàng chục nghìn người chết vì các vấn đề sức khỏe liên quan đến nó. Một chương trình có tên Hoy No Circula đã được giới thiệu và ô tô phải không được di chuyển trên đường một ngày một tuần. Chính phủ cũng đang cố gắng khuyến khích người dân tìm một cách khác để đi làm: có dịch vụ chia sẻ xe đạp mới có tên Ecobici và hệ thống Metrobus.

Canada is the world’s second largest country, but a lot of the land in the centre and north is empty. Canada is famous for its cold winters and beautiful mountains.

Ontario
Canada’s biggest city, Toronto, and its capital, Ottawa, are in this region. Here, as in most of Canada, English is the most important language. A lot of people come here to visit the Niagara Falls and the Great Lakes.
Quebec
Canada’s second biggest city, Montreal, is here. Most people in Quebec speak French and about forty percent want Quebec to be an independent country. Most of Canada’s famous maple syrup comes from this region. Canadians love eating it with pancakes and even have the leaf of the maple tree on their flag.
Nunavut
Nunavut is the biggest region in Canada, but only 33,000 people live there. There are no trees and the land and sea are frozen for most of the year. It is easier to travel by snowmobile than by car. At Grise Fiord, the furthest north of Nunavut’s towns, there are four months without daylight in winter and four months without night in summer. Most people in Nunavut are Inuit. They speak the Inuit language, but they don’t live in igloos. They have houses with TVs and the Internet.
