     ADA LOVELACE

1. Ada Lovelace (1815 1852) was a British mathematician. Her father, Lord Byron, died when she was eight, so her mother brought her up.

2. Girls did not go to school in those days, but Ada studied mathematics and science at home. She was very good at them. At the age of 12, she decided that she wanted to fly, so she wrote book called Flyology.

3. In 1833, she met Charles Babbage .He designed the Analytical Engine, the first computer. He asked Ada to write a paper explaining how to use it because she understood it better than anyone. She also wrote the first computer program!

4. Ada Lovelace was a brilliant mathematician. Sadly, she died from cancer when she was just 36 years old.
