What scientists managed to do was land a spacecraft on a comet travelling at 24,600 miles per hour 511 million km from Earth. Never before has there been an opportunity to study a comet in such detail. Not only did the journey to the comet take ten years, but it cost over a billion pounds. What is most amazing is that the unimaginably distant comet is only 2.5 miles wide. Scientists have compared the task to trying to lend on a speeding bullet. It's these kinds of achievements that remind us how advanced science has really become.
