Finding the right job is very important, but not so easy for jobseekers. If you can choose a suitable job for yourself, you are motivated to do that job and develop your career path. Below are some things for people to take into account when choosing the right job.

Working hours are considered among the most important factors when you choose a job. Many people prefer a nine-to-five job, so they can have a proper work-life balance. For example, working parents may expect to work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. so that they can take their children to school in the morning or pick them up in the afternoon. Others may consider a job with flexible working hours, so they can do things they enjoy, like pursuing hobbies, educating themselves or spending more time with loved ones.

Another key factor you should consider is salary and other rewards. The salary is a huge part of the package employers offer, but it does not mean that you should always choose a job that pays well. Instead, you should opt for a job with a salary that can cover your cost of living and support you and your family comfortably. In addition to benefits such as health insurance and paid leave, you should also check if there are any perks on offer, for example, if working from home is allowed or if you get any employee discounts. Before making a final decision, you need to make sure that these benefits and perks are negotiated and included in the contract.

Finally, it is essential to consider the working environment and opportunities for professional development. If you have supportive managers and colleagues, you will be motivated to work harder and overcome any challenges. Opportunities for growth and promotion in a job should be considered carefully. As you develop your skills at work, it is important that your career path should fit into your dreams and long-term goals.

31. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?

A. Challenges faced by jobseekers

B. Factors to consider when choosing a job

C. How to develop your career

32. According to paragraph 2, one benefit of choosing a job with suitable working hours is that

A. employees have more time with their children

B. employees can do two different jobs at the same time

C. employees can work flexible hours

D. employees can balance career and home life

33. The word “perks” in paragraph 3 means ________

A. benefits required by law

B. extra benefits not required by law

C. job satisfaction

D. additional rewards for good performance

34. In paragraph 4, what is one benefit of having supportive managers and colleagues?

A. They will make you eager to cope with difficulties.

B. They will offer you more perks.

C. They will force you to work hard.

D. You will have better chances of promotion.

35. Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage?

A. Jobseekers should consider whether the salary offered can cover the cost of living.

B. Benefits and perks should be included in the employment contract.

C. Your chosen career path should help you achieve your long-term goals.

D. The working environment is important for pursuing your dreams.

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions.

It is not easy to choose a career today. Hundreds of students are leaving schools and universities every year  to  seek  employment  in  the  various  professions,  though  employment  opportunities  are  not  increasing proportionately. As a result, there is a lot of unemployment.

The inability of the various professions to absorb all those seeking employment makes the choice of a career more difficult. Before one leaves school or university, one has many plans, confident that choosing a career will not be difficult. But when, the time comes to choose a career, one finds that there are others with better qualifications waiting to enter the same profession.  Disillusioned, one then looks for  any  kind of employment.  In this way,  many  who  wanted  to  become  police  inspectors or field  assistants  in  the  rubber estates in this country,  become  teachers  instead,  and many who  wanted  to  become  teachers,  have  become shop assistants. The lack of institutions where people could acquire the skills necessary for a particular career makes the choice of a career even more difficult. For example, if one desires to become a journalist, one has to receive some training and instruction in a school of journalism. But if there is no such school, one is compelled to think of some other career.

Bài 25 :

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C or D to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions.

Although I left university with a good degree, I suddenly found that it was actually quite hard to find a job. After being unemployed for a few months, I realized I had to take the first thing that came along or I'd be in serious financial difficulties. And so, for six very long months, I became a market research telephone interviewer.

I knew it wasn't the best company in the world when they told me that I'd have to undergo three days of training before starting work, and that I wouldn't get paid for any of it. Still, I knew that the hourly rate when I actually did start full time would be a lot better than unemployment benefit, and I could work up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week if I wanted. So, I thought of the money I'd earn and put up with three days of unpaid training. Whatever those three days taught me - and I can't really remember anything about them today - I wasn't prepared for the way I would be treated by the supervisors.

It was worse than being at school. There were about twenty interviewers like myself, each sitting in a small, dark booth with an ancient computer and a dirty telephone. The booths were around the walls of the fifth floor of a concrete office block, and the supervisors sat in the middle of the room, listening in to all of our telephone interviews. We weren't allowed to talk to each other, and if we took more than about two seconds from ending one phone call and starting another, they would shout at us to hurry up and get on with our jobs. We even had to ask for permission to go to the toilet. I was amazed how slowly the day went. Our first break of the day came at eleven o'clock, two hours after we started. I'll always remember that feeling of despair when I would look at my watch thinking, 'It's must be nearly time for the break', only to find that it was quarter to ten and that there was another hour and a quarter to go. My next thought was always, 'I can't believe I'm going to be here until nine o'clock tonight.'

The most frightening aspect of the job was that I was actually quite good at it. 'Oh, no!' I thought.

‘Maybe I'm destined to be a market researcher for the rest of my life.' My boss certainly seemed to think so. One day - during a break, of course - she ordered me into her office. 'Simon,' she said, 'I'm promoting you. From tomorrow, you're off telecoms and onto credit card complaints. I'm sure you can handle it. There's no extra pay, but it is a very responsible position.'

Three weeks later, I quit. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Q&A with a career adviser

(Hỏi đáp với người cố vấn nghề nghiệp)

1. Listen and read.

(Nghe và đọc.)

Mr Kien: ... So, I've talked to you about future job opportunities. I hope you'll continue to keep up with the rapid changes in the job market. Have you got any questions?

Nam: Yes, do you think we need to have a university degree to pursue a career?

Mr Kien: Well, it depends on the industry and the field of work that you're interested in. There're many jobs that don't require a university degree. For example, you may consider becoming a flight attendant, car mechanic, or repair worker.

Nam: But how do you get a job without a degree or any experience? Employers look down on job applicants without a university degree.

Mr Kien: No, they don't. You need to show that you're hard-working and willing to learn. Many companies hire school-leavers and provide on-the-job training.

Mai: So, when do you think we should start thinking about our careers?

Mr Kien: Well, the sooner, the better. However, the best time is when you start senior secondary school.

Mai: I read that AI will replace many workers in the future. How do I make sure that the job I choose won't be taken over by a robot?

Mr Kien: That's a good question. Many factory jobs and jobs in customer service have already become automated. As AI continues to develop, more human employees may be replaced. That's why It's important to choose jobs that involve a high level of human interaction, critical thinking, and decision-making.

Nam: So, are these the most important job skills we'll need in the future?

Mr Kien: That's right! No matter what career you may consider, you'll need these skills. Good communication and teamwork will always be in demand. These soft skills will help you adapt to changes and come up with solutions to challenging problems.

Nam: Thank you very much for your answers.
