This festival takes place in the village of Vân, in the north of Vietnam. It happens every two years, in the spring. The festival celebrates the victory of the Truong brothers. Over 1,500 years ago, the brothers defeated some demons in a mud ball wrestling game. During the festival, two teams play for three hours. The teams score by carrying a heavy wooden ball to one end of a muddy field. At the festival, the locals pray for good weather for the rice-growing season. It is really exciting and really messy!

There are many festivals in my country, Vietnam. Next week, I’m going to Huế Festival. It is a famous cultural festival in Vietnam. It began in 2000 and people celebrate it every two years in April in Huế. 

During the festival, there are lots of cultural events such as Huế Poetry Festival, street arts performances and the dialogue of drums and percussion instruments. We are going to watch the opening ceremony. Several art groups from Vietnam and other countries are going to perform. We’ll also attend various shows like kite flying, boat races and street performances.

Huế Festival is a famous festival to celebrate my country’s traditional and cultural values. 

If you come to Vietnam, don’t forget to take part in this festival.

In the morning, it rained when we woke up, but it stopped shortly after breakfast! We went down to the river and got into our kayaks. There were tall trees all around us. Squirrels, monkeys and parrots watched us from the trees. It was amazing!

It was foggy this morning, but we went ahead with our day as planned. We stopped at a village. The people there offered us gifts and told us stories around a campfire. 

Thursday

Today, we got up at 5:00 a.m. It was very windy and cool. We packed our bags and left the village at 7:00 a.m. Right now, we are flying back home.

Tourists will see many fascinating lights and exciting activities during Hội An Lantern Festival. Locals celebrate the festival every 14th day of the Lunar month to send offerings to their ancestors. This traditional festival is famous for parades of interesting and colorful silk lanterns that light the city up at night. Besides the traditional decorations, tourists will also see a fireworks display and shows like lion dances and poetry readings.

You certainly won't get bored at Ok Om Bok Festival! The Khmer people host this festival to thank the Moon Goddess in provinces of the Mekong Delta. It is held during the full moon of the 10th Lunar month. They host this festive event for a good harvest and rain. Everyone gets excited and cheers for their favourite rowing team during the exciting Ngo Boat Races. At night, they light flying lanterns which float up into the sky.
