I can use used to to talk about school activities in the past.

1. In pairs, read the text, look at the pictures and discuss the primary school activities you used to do, but don’t do any longer.

Anthony and Maria are secondary school students in Mexico. They are talking about what primary school was like.

Maria: You were lucky. We used to have to stay at school until 3.30 like the older kids.

Anthony: That’s a long day!

Maria: Yes, but we used to do a lot of fun things. We used to do finger-painting, build things, and even take a nap after lunch.

Anthony: That doesn’t sound so bad. We used to have fun, too. We went on field trips and did school plays.

Maria: School used to be much more fun than it is now.

Anthony: Yeah, I didn’t use to study so hard.
