Past regrets

You use wish/if only + sb + Past Perfect to talk about past regrets.

If only I'd worn more sunscreen.

I wish I hadn't forgotten my camera.

Note: If only is much stronger than wish.

Unreal past

• You use wish / if only + sb + Past Simple to say that somebody really wants a present or future situation to be different.

• You use it's (high) time + sb + Past Simple to say that somebody should do something (now or in the future).

•You use would rather + sb + Past Simple to say what somebody would prefer somebody else to do (now or in the future).

Quá khứ không có thật

• Bạn dùng Wish / if only + sb + Past Simple để nói rằng ai đó thực sự muốn tình huống hiện tại hoặc tương lai khác đi.

• Bạn dùng it's (high) time + sb + Past Simple để nói rằng ai đó nên làm điều gì đó (bây giờ hoặc trong tương lai).

•Bạn sử dụng would rather + sb + Past Simple để nói điều ai đó muốn người khác làm (bây giờ hoặc trong tương lai).

Hi Artur

Well, we're still enjoying our trip to England. We're staying in a great city-but someone ¹ ____ told us that there was going to be a festival here yesterday!
