Many two-syllable words that are both nouns and verbs are often pronounced differently. Word stress is usually placed on the first syllable for nouns and the second syllable for verbs.

However, there are some exceptions.

4. Listen and mark the syllable that is stressed. Then decide if the word is a verb (v) or a noun (n). Listen again and repeat Practise saying them.
